British right wing's initial deployment along the sunken road
Over the years, we have reconstructed a large number of battles, so many that we have lost count.
We are collecting the historical memory we have preserved, and we offer it to you in terms of studies, photographs and, sometimes, articles.
The quality of the images is not always professional, but they are often amateur photographs, taken several years ago.
Waterloo 1815
Played in 1993
The Farms on the British left did fall soon, but Picton did repel the early attack by D'Erlon, while The Guards in Hougoumont did stand any assault.
The French did then organize a powerful attack in the center which slowly took to the collapse of the whole British front.
The Prussians managed to engage the French right wing, threatening the farms, but it was too late.
Eylau 1807
Played twice, in 1994 and in 2006
The pictures are from the 2006 game.
The first game ended in a Russian victory, while the second was a draw with heavy French losses.
Historically was at most a draw, despite napolenic propaganda, and it is famous for the huge numbers in Russian artillery and for the largest cavalry charge after the Middle Ages.
It was fought on the snow and partly in a snow-storm.
Borodino 1812
Played in 1995
18 players participated on a table with about 7000 miniatures.
The Russians had 3 command levels. from Kutuzov to the Army commanders and from the Armies to the Corps commanders.
In the beginning things went quite well for the Russians.
A susrprise attack in the Utitsa area compelled the French left wing to pull back and reorganize, while the Poles were pinned in the woods by Cossacks and batteries.
Meanwhile in the center the grande redoute did repel al the assaults.
Part of the Young Guard was committed to hold the left and, when the retired divisions went forward again, the Russian right wing collapsed, giving the day to Napoleon.
Austerlitz 1805
Played in 1995
The first hours where difficult for the French.
On the right Lannes' Corps was pinned for several hours by swarms of Cossacks, while in the center the cavalry suffered heavy losses by Russian batteries on higher ground.
In the end, the French superior organization did win the day.
Assaye 1803
Played in 2005
The developement of the game was quite similar to the historical results, with a costly advance in front of heavy guns followed by a crushing charge on the defending infantry.
Friedland 1807
Played in 2007
Instead of the realatively passive historical behaviour, the Russians pushed immediately forward.
An initial success against Ney permitted them to deploy along the mill's stream and on the main hill.
All subsequent attempts to force the stream and reach Friedland were repelled by cooperating Russian artillery and cavalry, well supported by the infantry.
The historical French victory was turned into an unsatisfying draw.
